Dear All, the YA registration number in picture 2186 came from Somerset and was issued February 1921- September 1924, so is appropriate to the 1925 quoted photo date. The charming ladies in #2189 have coats, hats, gloves, windshield and leg shields so this does not look like a picture posed with models. Good luck to them if those are tram rails in the wet road.
The Douglas DT (dirt track) models in #2190 came out in 1929 and held virtually every British speedway record in 1929 and 1930, after which the effects of the Wall Street Crash and the new Rudge took the edge off. They sold an astonishing 1300 DT models in 1929, amazing for such a specialist item. I was well beaten over a quarter mile airfield sprint a while ago by a 1929 DT 600 with me on the much heavier 1934 VL.
