M.A.D.Originally posted by JoJo357 View PostThanks Badger. If I remember correctly, the original Henderson Plant was on Cass Avenue, or was it corporate general office? The 268 Jefferson factory was around the Cobo Arena & the Ren Cen Area. I had a journal and lots of information and old pictures, but unfortunately they were destroyed in a basement flood. I can recall my Grandfather telling me they used to go down to the Detroit River for lunch, and sometimes fish off the piers.
I've dug into Henderson history the past couple of days even though I should be prioritizing Milwaukee, some new Milwaukee newspaper resources have recently become available.
So as far as the 268 Jefferson Ave address goes that was a seven story Albert Kahn designed building owned by the Dodge Bros at Jefferson and Brush with available space for office and light manufacturing, not really a motorcycle factory. The Henderson Cass Ave factory was ready for operation in early June of 1912. Late in 1917 Henderson moved the factory to Bellevue Ave just months before consolidating with Excelsior. All of the info comes from original period newspaper sources.

Indian Little Base headed for Hawkeye downs in Cedar Rapids from Des Moines 1960.
Builder machinist, Cliff Berkman standing at handlebars.
Cliff was friends with Ernie Beckman #55 Indian Wrecking Crew who told Cliff how to build it.1952
Cliff raced it for a few years.& then he gave the bike to the guy squatting, "Jorgy" David Jorgenson.
This is my brothers Little Base that he bought in '62.
When I first started on it I spent a few phone hours tracing back the history & finally got Jorgy's name & number.
He was in Washington state & had this picture as his screen saver in front of him when I called !
