  • joe contact the seller. If you are talking about that 1914.the man had a complete bike in his listing. That bike is now for sale in walnecks with contact info.was your bid confirmed in your email? I had this happen to me with 2 camaro quarter panels i listed.a guy emailed me and told your same story. So i relisted them and got more$.Funny thing was the first winning bidder wasn't angry.I think the first guy used some kind of program to jam things.

    • Joe, it could be that you have a virus causing this issue. I would suggest that you sign up for a sniping program that will place your bid just a second or two before the end of the auction. I doubt if anyone can "jam" that since your computer does not even have to be on - the sniping company server does the work. I use Powersnipe, there are others. Annual charge of about 40 bucks or so. Ebay has their proxy bidding where you enter in your max bid sometime well before the auction end, but that ends up jacking up the price as your proxy bid competes with other bidders in that time span. So, I do not use that, only the sniping program - I enter the maximum I will pay and go on about my business elsewhere.

I use three different free versions of software to keep my PC's bug-free. AVG, Symantec and Malwarebytes. I have automatic updates on all three every night and run the virus scans every night on both units. I have one that starts at 0100, the second at 0230 and the third at 0400. I have had one programn catch a bug, typically a tracking cookie, that the others missed.

I also delete the browsing history several times while using the units, especially the temporary files. I NEVER allow the PC to save passwords. In spite of that, someone has hacked my Ebay account twice in the last six years. So, I change passwords every couple of months just in case, and never have the same password on any two programs, including this and other forums.

Can't be too cautious, especially if you do any on-line banking.

      Regards,
      Lonnie

        • I've always wondered who wins if all of the bidders have sniper software? I still bid the old fashioned way and base my maximum bid on what I think the item is worth. If I don't win, I take comfort in knowing the winner got screwed.

Thanks for all the advice it is just a little late this time. Perhaps I will look into one of the sniper programs (seems like cheating to me though)
Chris, "The one who bids highest wins silly" is not true in this situation,. My bid was a hefty amount greater than the winning bid with sufficient time to make the cutoff time.

I spent some time and money in Oley. The event conditions were near perfection, what a great time. A headlight and seat are just a couple of items purchased for the cannonballer bike. Also many small hardware items were found, Mark Masa proved to be my best source for parts at the event, thanks Mark for your help.

On the down side Tony Watson is not doing well and I fear the worst. Tony is an outstanding man and someone to always look too for good conversation or knowledge. Most of all Tony is a good friend who I have spent some of my best ridding times with.

                  • Sticky (or tacky?)

Look where I am now, guess this means I will have to work harder to maintain this new privileged position.
Oley was a good time now back to work. Heather's Leather, one of the leather venders at Oley was in need of some machined parts in a hurry for saddle bags and I just so happened to need a seat re-apollstered right away. A match made in..........Oley? So you can guess what I was working on today, yes saddle bag parts.
The part ordered is a similar part to my program already made for producing fillester screws. The trick is to step on a copy of the old screw program to devolope a modified new program for the saddle bag part.
With the two saddle machine, P code timing for the twin turrets caused some confusion before getting things under control. The first part came off good not great, chatter on the finish OD will need to be eliminated before an acceptable part is made.
A race is on to see who can ship first, Heather's Leather or me. It is in my best interest to get these parts done and out of the way so I can get back to business on the cannonballer bike. A photo of my first part will be posted soon if Corey is still up and on line.
                    Joe

                            • Side tracked again

Today was a continuation of yesterday. In order to get my newly acquired seat for the ghost restored right away I had to produce some saddle bag mounting studs. After about 14 hours of set up, program and operate/run the project is finished. These parts ran good, although they were a little challenging to get desired results in a timely fashion. As usual the absence of coolant can complicate the process, aluminum will melt during the machining process if care is not taken. The trick is to keep feed rates fast and the heat will leave with the chip and not stay with the work piece.
I will ship the parts and complete my end of the deal as promised. Next is to make 1915 transmission counter shafts for fellow cannonballer Eric Dunc / Iron Block Harley Davidson. Following this project I cannot accept any further outside work into the shop until the 14 is finished unless it brings parts or service for the Gray Ghost.
A You Tube video of the machining of the saddle bag bracket can be seen at the following... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6sBU4TqcKM On the You Tube, Don't allow the background Doc. Laura program depress you. The Mark Lavin program just ended when Laura came on. I just love listening to Mark shouting out loud common sense, sorry for those who don't agree.
