But here is the grand daddy of them all. The Indian 841 military with dual Linkerts and shaft drive. My Guzzi buddy hated when I called his California an Indian copy because it was true.

It was a Japanese Moto Guzzi copy. Years later, Honda also copied it with the CX500. A few years later Honda added a Turbo to the pushrod activated valvetrain (crazy) which became a collectors item.
