I love the old racing history. Hey Duffy, what ever happened to 'Little Base'?

Ernie Beckman was friends with a machinist in Des Moines. Beckman told him how to build a Little Base Indian Racer. 1952,He rode it a few years & it sat a few. #584 Tuman & Hill told me the story of that race. So hot that Tuman would lose 25-30 lbs & take 6 weeks to recover. Watching his friend a few feet ahead disappear off the track. When they checked his temp it was 108. They couldn't bring it down & he died. As Tuman told me the story, he began to shake violently. Bobby grabbed him & held him till he calmed down. Then Tuman finished telling me the story. This was the race that ended Tuman's racing career. He said it wasn't watching his friend die, that happened a lot. It was the beating he took each time they raced at Dodge City. Miss those guys !
