Or, as mentioned before, it could have been a case of extreme stupidity by thinking that if it was near a trash can it was discarded. Still if I saw it by the trash can I would have asked whoevers space it was in if it was indeed trash.

SV600041.jpgSV600042.jpgThose of you who were fortunate enough to attend the Oley meet this year may have seen this 55FL for sale there. Well I bought it on Friday and here are a couple pics of it after I got it cleaned up. It hadn't been run since 1985 and I got the original title and sales receipt. The tools are still in the toolbox. It took a fresh battery and a new carb float to get it running. It started on the first kick with the ignition on. It runs great! The only items I can find that are not original to the bike are the muffler and headlamp. I also changed out the seat for one that is in a little better shape. Chrome on the rims is a little rusty, otherwise the bike is in great shape for being 56 yers old.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Yes, it is atomic blue. The handle "DuoGlide62" caught my attention. I am still looking for a nice original paint 62 DuoGlide to complete my Panhead collection.

I've had my '62 for 29 years. I got it in '82. It's not original paint but it's mine.

Try some strong arm to clean the rims of rust and protect them. There is an add in the club mag. Does a great job and weather proof them for at least a year. If the pitting is not very deep it will not be obvious and look plenty good for a rider.
