Presumably, you members "across the pond" do not pay extra fees for the magazine to be sent by Air Mail?
The several European old bike clubs I am a member of offer air mail or surface mail postage alternatives. By Air Mail their magazines arrive at my door about a week after they are mailed out.
If your AMCA magazine takes a month it might come on a successor to the RMS "Titanic" or some low-zoot cargo plane.

I think mine came up by canoe and there were many portage points! It showed up the day before yesterday. I've been assured though that a solution is on it's way.

Being that the magazine is mailed from Minnesota, I can really understand your frustration Ross. It's a much shorter canoe ride to your place.

Sure it has nothing to do with Airmailing or not. It is simply a mess created by the distributor.

                  Cory,
If you still have the envelope it came in look and see if the address label is less than one and a half inches from the bottom of the envelope. If it is that puts it outside the range of view of the automatic label reading machine.

Overseas delivery time has everything to do with the amount of postage paid.
The Canadian members get their issues through a bulk mailing by the Pitney-Bowes company, who (as far as I can tell) were not the firm used previously when deliveries were pretty regular. Part of the problem would be not only the mailing firm but the AMCA process of selection and hiring of that firm and the decision made by the AMCA board to go with that contractor. I understand that this mess is under review by Bill Wood and I would hope that he has the reasons for the problem identified and will let the members know what is being done to sort thing out.

                      Ross,
If and when the magazine arrives in the Keystone province, get the boys to save the envelopes and see where the address label is placed. As mentioned earlier in this thread my address label was so low on the envelope that the address-reading scanner would not have been able to read it - therefore it would have had to be read by a human sorter. Perhaps that will help explain the delay.

                        AFJ!

Yup, the address label was low enough on the envelope that it almost missed! I did finally get the original. Last time around, the re-issue was the only one that showed up.

" God Bless America" my magazine came today. AFJ both the mailing postage type label(top right corner) and my address label(bottom right corner) were as far in the corner as they would go. So the manual sorting theory makes perfect sense. I'm glad you hopefully identified the problem. Waiting months for the last two issues has not been fun.

                              Thanks, Ross.
Unless the address label is 1.5 inches up from the bottom of the envelope and 3.75 inches to the left of the right hand edge of the envelope the reading machine does not "see" the address. Problem identified.
Now we need to hear from Bill Wood at the AMCA as to the results of his meeting with a representative from the people who put the labels on - and what they are going to do about it.
                              Bill - are you there?

                                Allan:

We met with the printer rep last week. We discovered that there was at least one other problem related to the Canadian and overseas mags for the Spring issue. Apparently, they were shipped to the wrong facility for distribution, where they sat for a while before being forwarded to the right facility.

We have asked them to investigate the impact of that problem and the address label problem you pointed out. We gave them copies of the scan you sent and the Canadian postal regs. Both of those will be very helpful in resolving this issue.

We are now waiting for their response. We've told them that we want to get all of these issues cleared up before they start mailing the Summer issue late next month.

I'll let you know when I hear more.

                                Bill
