The Seattle Cossacks do similiar stunts as part of thier drill-team formation riding. I believe this kind of riding was popularized during the 1930s as part of the growing AMA club scene. Formation riding was popular, and actually a competition at the AMA club meets. (Mr Wagner, I learned something from your books!)Comment

Charles Lindbergh the Aviator
I had known for a while that Lindbergh was a keen motorcyclist and that he used to own a Excelsior that once was restored by Mr. T. Hodgon.
Whilst surfing for info on Lindbergh and his motorcycles I came across some cool images where he lends a ACE from a cop to take a spin.

Old motorcycle images from US
Having had two really quiet days at work with plenty of time to hunt the www for old pics of pre WWII American Motorcycles I am amased how many incredibly god images there are hidden in various official databases in the US.
This thread could live for a long long time with never seen before images from the early teens.
I was supposed to consentrate on my own country, but whow!!

This thread started slipping away so I thought I'd post a couple new pics and bring it back to the top.
First, Grandma always said the guys who rode these things were a bunch of clowns...
Why doesn't anyone do stuff like this anymore?
And last, don't you wish motorcycle dealers still looked like this? bet those boys were there every day, I know we pestered the heck out of old Mrs. Cramer at the local shop when we were kids .

If I didn't know better, I would SWEAR this is Smilin' Jack Frenger in his shop in Pasco, with Arley the top mechanic (in the plaid shirt) standing beside him. The shop looked exactly like that, maybe 25 or 30 years newer, when I started going there in 1974.
