  • Great Pictures lately Duffey,
I have a nice 1956 Servicar and a 1941 (small box, left hand shift) Servi that runs and rides,, maybe a bit nicer than this one, was also used on the farm............but I don't have a nice 56' Chevy in the background .
I lived in Iowa myself for many years, so these pictures lately are especially appreciated.
    Thanks for posting.

        • Here is a picture probably from Brooklands race track in the mid 1930s. Marjorie Cottle is on the New Imperial and another lady on the Holden. The connection is that Brigadier-General Sir Henry Capel Holden designed the Holden four cylinder bike, first in the world, around 1896-1903 and then went on to design the Brooklands race track in 1906. Marjorie Cottle rode in every ISDT 1925-39 inclusive. The Holden is probably the one now in the Whitewebbs museum with more pictures in the July/Aug 2020 AMCA magazine.

          • Mike & Margaret Wilson's HD in Cedar Rapids, sponsored the Corn State Riders M.C. & they put on the Tall Corn Derby. Tall Corn Derby was an all night ride starting at midnight. They rode aver 100 miles & back thru small towns stopping at places like Baldy Lentner's HD in Ottumwa Iowa. Here is a pic of Margaret on her '58 Panhead, Most Popular AMA Female rider for 1958. Corn State Riders large patch from Mike's estate & a link to Black Hawk M.C. Waterloo IA. Postwar mentions riding the Tall Corn Derby....Black Hawk Motorcycle club timeline

              • Mike Wilson's factory equiped Panhead TT racer, at Peoria TT. Mike liked to race but did far better at TT racing than flat track.
This Panhead had chain driven magneto, short oil tank raised & trans for TT racing

Margaret Wilson Most Popular Female Rider for 1958. Margaret's Stepmother was Linda Dugeau who came up with the Idea for the Motor Maids. She convinced Dot Robinson to be the Cofounder & 1st President. Margaret was only 4 years younger that Linda but Linda was the only mother she ever knew.

                      • Mike Wilson on his WR at Peoria. He said he got third one year which was pretty good in the competetive field.

                          • Everett Schilling went with a friend from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to the 1953 Dodge City Kansas races. They stopped at this Harley dealership somewhere in Kansas.Probably on route 50 but not at Topeka. Maybe Kinsley,Newton or Emporia. Everett on Panhead, his buddy on K model. Everett told me about riding the Tall Corn Derby with Margaret Wilson. Margaret's friend couldn't make it & she wanted balast for the long ride. Everett said "that lady could ride" ! He never felt more comfortable riding in a sidecar.Anybody recognise this dealership? Large Bar & shield sign out front. Poster for Gypsy Tour & Races in window.

Looks like it was Swede's Harley Shop, 410 S. Main, South Hutchinson KS, Swede Magnuson & his brother Charley Magnuson
Edit; search says Swede's was founded 1974
