What are you dealing with? A repop fender? Factory fenders have an exit hole in them that is pretty self explanatory.

On mine From memory(I am not out in shop at moment) on the moveable end part of fender there is a closed metal channel under the tail light, then a metal coil/spring type conduit spanning the hinge area that goes to an open type U channel with metal tabs bent over to hold wire in. This channel runs in an arch along the side of the fender that exits the fender through a hole near the chain cutout. If no one else chimes in I will go out tomorrow and verify what I just said.

Oops sorry I should have mentioned, mine is a 50 and my other a 49 is the same. But I would think 56 would be the same.

If you look closely you see the wire comes out just below the frame rail, then is routed along the inside of it to the terminal box. The ends of the clip holding the wire are visible . This is a '54 but '56 is the same.

Hey Chris, that shows a loom all the way to the junction box. Were some with a shorter loom & exposed wire for part of that distance? I ask because some wire harnesses made have shorter loom for this area, not the full length to the coil junction.
