    For what it's worth, Folks,..

My Police Specials had it, and frankly, I cannot remember a '65 through my shop that didn't.

    ...Cotten
PS: Its my storefront, but none of my own '65s are pictured.

I would believe all 65's had it so the dealer could add the compensator anytime.

          That makes sense.

I also remember having a conversation with someone who had or worked at a dealership back around
the time that there was a dealer bulletin that had the template/instructions on how to add whole and threads to add the
plug to the blank cover. But too long ago to remember who that was. I never saw the actual bulletin so can verify.

So is there a list anywhere that shows which bolts are to have the Circle F and which have the CP markings?

Is there any place that has the Circle F markings. My 65 pan is next on my list of things to do. Had it since October of 70. Stripped it down through the years but kept most of the original parts. So many years later I am to the POINT of putting it back together with a proper restoration in mind. Using the correct hardware is important to me if it is possible.

              You talking to me, Harleycats?

I'm in 'downtown' Lacon, ILL, on the Illinois River just north of Peoria.
But frankly, there's nothing to see here but dust and rust....

They are mixed throughout the bike randomly with what ever bolt they grabbed from the bins, mostly were 1038 CP. On my 58 and 65 have circle F on rear motor mount bolts and the exhaust bolts plus random here and there.

Can't say I recall any circle F on my '65. Most were 1038 CP. After that finish is very important.

Most of the windshield mounting bolts are Foster (Circle F).

                      Like Chris said,

The funny bottom windshield extention to bracket bolt was a 5/16"-24 thread with only a 7/16" hex, and "Foster".
(The bracket is probably flipped in the pic...)
But it seems the rest were "common" with no marks at all.

I thought some of the coarse bolts holding the footclutch bracket and brake pedal bracket were "Foster" too.

Too long ago to be sure,

Interesting - so windshield is an accessory. Wasn't thinking of that. Will have to have a look when I pull the bike out of the garage (hopefully) this week. Been 2 days of rain here.

Anytime you or any AMCA member wants to have a look at an early '65 restoration with full KOH and pick it apart let me know.

Give me a PM if you are going to be running near SE/PA King of Prussia Area.

I did manage 99.75 points as I got to Winners Circle. There was about 12 years of effort once I decided to restore.

I don't think there's enough original weird '65 parts left now to really do a restoration without very deep pockets.

Deciding to truly restore a '65 is a HUGE decision.

Typically I attend the Boyertown, PA meet every year. Spotty on the Chesapeake chapter meet, but would attend if folks want to have a look and stare and compare. Otherwise I'm smallmouth fishing on the Susky :-)

Just give me a PM and let me know if you want to swing by.

Otherwise check history for my posts during the project. Those pointers to photos and url's should all still be active.

Right now I'm thinking of setting it up for a "personal cannonball run" else finish the refurbish on the 81 GL1100i or both.
