Got another call today from someone very knowledgeable and trustworthy when it comes to the antique motorcycle community and ebay. It seems the Russians who might have hacked the presidential election are being looked at for hacking accessory Bumper and Eaton Gas Cap auctions. Dam Profiteers, DAMN RUSSIANS!

Selling and the profit you made is one thing, I am glad you did as well as you did, gloating is another. I guess you must of sold a bumper too. No, I am not sore because I chiseled my cap off, I could care.

It wasn't me Bob that sold the Gas Caps if that is what you are insinuating. I was just being sarcastic and I think the whole thing is hysterical when I see grown men getting all worked up over nothing! Just because someone out there, most probably in another country who bought a 150K early Knuckle and it is missing the Gas Caps and another guy who also needs them a bidding war starts and this kind of stuff happens. And notice how the guys who are the ones crying the whole profiteer/shill bidder thing don't dare say anything about THIS gas cap seller and his auction! I wonder why??? A few years ago when I was getting rid of the bulk of my collection I was the one getting called the "profiteer" by more than one person. The funny thing is that if you stepped up to the plate and paid the price for the stuff I sold and kept it 2 to 3 years you could have doubled or even tripled your money on some of the stuff. Or look at it like if you didn't wait 2 to 3 years to buy it look how much you saved considering todays prices. And if someone does make money off of anyting I sold god bless them. That is the way of the world if you are buying a new car, an old motorcycle part of even groceries at the local grocery store. Someone makes a buck and it has been like that since the beginning of time. ....HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone! 46EL

And I should have mentioned that the guy who sold the gas caps is not the gloating kind in any way shape or form. I am sure he is just as shocked as everyone else about what they sold for. 46EL

Well I was insinuating that between your comments and the state they were sold from, my apologies.

And there is a lot of money out there, where $50 is like $5K to someone else. I have no grudges for someone that can afford more than me.

                  Dear comrade 46EL,
Man must band together if he is to survive !
Have you neglected the reading of the manifesto ?
Greedy, selfish, self serving interests must be put aside for the good of the community.
Send me the proceeds of the knuckle caps and other goodies and I will see they are properly distributed among my accounts, I mean the community.

Happy Holidays to you also Surfdude. And at this time of year lets not forget the club members, friends and families of all the loved ones we lost just in the last few years. And those who are sick and have ongoing severe problems with their health. None of this old iron is worth anything to anyone if you don't have your health. And if the biggest problem you have in life is what someone sold something for on ebay or who is bidding on those auctions then you do not know what real problems are, AMEN. 46EL

The current high bidder has a buyer/seller rating of 12,216. One would assume this bidder is a savy or knowledgeable buyer; but, then again he/she may not have a clue to the item's authenticity.

As a seller on ebay I know that bidders with transactions that number in the thousands and even tens of thousands or items are usually involved in the Ebay Global Shipping Program. All the items I sold to these buyers went to a CA address and then most probably on to Japan. I assume that because the name that came with the paypal payment is Japanese. And from what I saw back when you could see what they were bidding on they buy anything from motorcycle parts to toilet paper which is a luxury in some Asian countries. 46EL

There are two (may be more) buyers for the Japanese market that live in California and buy on ebay then ship to Japan.
As you mentioned they have thousands and tens of thousands of purchases.
For two items I listed they both bid bringing the sale to amazing prices.
There is a Japanese culture that love the bikes like we do any have very deep pockets.
I was curious if they were biding for a specific buyer or general buying and reselling in Japan, not sure which it is.
The gas caps and knuckle bumper fit this pattern of prices that to us are beyond belief.

By having their own shipping, they avoid Global shipping program costs and potentially they change the actual purchase price to avoid import duties.
