        Recorded at Davenport, Folks,...

        This aluminum AMX13A, (aside from a Linkert bowl and throttlelever),

            This feels like the right thread so hope it’s ok to continue on with the barrel theme?

            I’m searching for information about the Linkert MX12. I already have a Shrebler AMX 12 on my peashooter but, in terms of size, this is a different beast

            And generally, why did ”the racing department” switch from the barrel type to throttle plate (MR’s) carburetors?

              I have no experience with the barrel type carburator but it seems to me that they are an idle or full throttle carb with poor transition in the mid range. The butterfly carburators power throughout but do not have the topend of a barrel type.

                But but the barrels cost nearly twice as much as a conventional carb.

                PS: Reviewing my limited literature and pic collection, I find no references to a Linkert MX12, but that just goes to show how little has survived...
                (It seems like they went straight from the 'barrel' MR2 to the 'butterfly' MR3.)
                But we would very much enjoy pics of your AMX12, if convenient!

                  Yes, I've been hunting high and low for info about the MX12 but so far all in vain.

                  The only one I’ve seen in the flesh (before this one) is the one mounted on the 80 c.i flathead hill climber at Wheels Through Time Museum.

                        But its hard to archive the MX with certainty without viewing its model stamp.

                        The total lack of a highspeed needle baffles me!

                        PS: Folks, I suspect the H169 in post #64 might apply only to the cover or some other part.

                            It may be such 'racing' carbs were produced individually, Martin,...

                            Please note the two examples of MX12 have different castings!

                                What a rare piece, Martin!

                                Was the consensus the A stood for alcohol?

                                As if the lack of a highspeed needle wasn't confusing enough, note the lowspeed has a Schebler knob with an apparent air port to the needle itself. Note also the rectangular 'window' upon the casting which showed up on later Model Ms to shroud a hole for air correction to a venturi.
