Oh, and by the way. I don't play the piano or know anything about them. It just looked like the tool were for that purpose. And I once helped pick up a piano that fell out of a truck. not my piano or my truck. But google piano tuning tools and they still look the same! And the parts are the strikers that hit the strings. I had that soundboard from that piano in my back yard for a while!

I wonder if the toolbox has any markings, because I'm thinking it could be from Germany. Just a guess, but we've been lucky guessing lately, esp. about piano tools....

these are 2 other mystery parts on the bike.the seat post is completly solid, definatly a quality aftermarket piece, but the frame had somehow been machined out inside for the step down on the aftermarket post. then the exhaust cut out, which fits the motor perfectly, but is completly different from any other seen.and probably worked very well.

That the bike belonged to Lang and together with a bunch of other information this will make an excellent article in The Antique Motorcycle, including more on the missing 1st ever made Harley-Davidson motorcycle worth millions to the lucky guys who finds it.

                            Two questions:

                            1) What are the practical effects of the unusual timer and cam mods? What do they accomplish?

                            2) Can ANY of the mods or piece on this bike be dated in any way as being newer than 1944?

Actually, #2 above would be better phrased:

                              2) Can any of the motor mods be dated to:

                              a) c1906
                              b) the 1924-44 period
                              c) or newer than 1944

Maybe impossible to do that, but it would really help figure this bike out even if we obtain just a notion or clue for one of the above.

well the cam work ,i cant say.it definatly changes the way the timer sparks.as to the exhaust cutout, in my opinion i believe that it is OEM .just fits too well.but i think it is OEM for the harley outboard engine.just my opinion ,based on a hunch.
