Dear All, I also have a 1928 Indian 101 Scout on the bench and am looking for striping information Here's the 'before' picture of the machine:

The 101 Shop Manual shows a rectangular striping pattern on the front mudguard, with no striping under the bracket mounting the mudguard, and a left to right stripe in front of the forks. What happens at the rear of the front mudguard? Is there a second left to right stripe behind the forks, or does the striping just go along the mudguard edges at both sides to join at the lower rear? Any help appreciated, particularly with pictures of original paint or accurately restored examples.

For the rear mudguard I'm the same as the bike under restoration, with the fender tip as the 101 Shop Manual and then the striping terminating as the mudguard is drawn in at the front, so no left to right horizontal bar behind that frame crossover tube.

Steve, the pictures of the original paint 101 in the Shop Manual are your best guide! The 1/16" stripes go all the way around each fender, on the top surface ~1/2"+ from the bend where the top meets the side skirts. Sorry for the thread hijack!

I’m pretty sure there is an original paint 101 front fender in my father’s stash, I’ll try to get some pictures of it this weekend.
