A bit late to this discussion but here is a photo of the coil on my unrestored 1948 UL showing the white vinylite cover. No flag terminal is used here.

You are welcome. As for other eyelet ends, here is a harness I recently removed that went from the dash plate to terminals on the front end. Shows the black vinylite on the eyelets and absent from the one flag terminal.
