Elaborating on my post on page 1, that's the premise, ITS is "selling" your machine back to you on a BOS only from a state that did not issue titles during year of mfr of your machine. Thus, they are not obligated to supply/nor your state technically in a position to require one at the time of registering your out of state "purchase" so to speak.

Now as to why the origin state for the ITS transaction having varied over the nearly 20 years I've utilized this service, don't have the answer, maybe it's the old wearing out one's welcome thing. But, have never had any raised eyebrows over this part of the process when registering in my state ......maybe that Crocker claimed bought for only $100, but not the paperwork itself.

It can be done in SC, if you live in SC and purchase bike from title service. Paps

No problem getting a title in Florida? What did you physically have to do once you had the bill of sale? Did they have to inspect the vehicle, etc? I've got a cousin in Fla., not a motorcycle person so it might be a bit complicated if there is an inspection required, but it might be a way to get my project titled here in Ohio...

If FL is simuliar to SC, a friend of mine takes the bill of sale in only. A few times they wanted to see the bike. He just went back another day, when the clerk who asked for a visual, wasn't waiting the counter, and walked out with an SC title. Another friend of mine, who lives here in Ohio, bought one of the titles from him. He was able to notorize the title into my Ohio friends name, there in SC, and then mailed it to him certified. Ohio requires an inspection so he took his engine to an used auto dealership for the inspection and told the dealer that the bike was in parts at the moment. The dealer didn't have a problem with that and wrote him out his inspection slip. Next day he had his Ohio title. Ohio required he pay sales tax on the purchase price too. In Florida when you bring in an out of state vehicle there is a form to be filled out to verify the V.I.N. What most people do not know is that you can go to the DMV and pick up the form then just get any Notary to sign it after you fill it out. They DO NOT need to physically see the vehicle as long as you have the form filled out and notorized. It is because of this that we in Fl can get a title and even a liscense plate (PERMANANT Horseless Carriage if the veh is 1945 or older for $22) on a left case! Actually we COULD get a title and reg on a V.I.N. that you made up, or even for somebody elses vehicle!! While it is somewhat of a loophole there IS a legit use for this service.
