It's not my bobber but don't I wish. I just got back from a short trip to Atlanta where I visited the new aquarium and stopped at Blue Moon Cycle, a BMW dealer with a nice collection of antique bikes on display. Besides the BMW's and DKW's etc, the owner John Landstrom, had this 37 Indian Bobber. I thought I might as well add it to the growing collection of bobber pictures.

I have a 78 BMW R100/7. For you BMW guys Blue Moon stocks many old parts and now has a nice new vintage bike parts catalogue available.

Cool sickle Old-Rust!!!! With the liberal use of "bobber" these days your background in the photo seems fitting!!! It's always nice to see the real thing!!!

Excuse my ignorance but were these so called bobbers built like that from the factory or have you antique enthusiasts just ruined a perfectly good antique motorcycle.? Shame on you all.

Nothing wrong with doing some mods to your bike.
If somebodys wants to chop off his original fender, so be it.
If you want to keep your bike stock, good for you.
Shame on nobody, all these bike kick ass.

Here's my view roland. In this day in age if you take a bone stock antiquer and chop it up then I would say that it's a shame. But back in the day these bikes weren't viewed the way we see them today. Guys wanted to go faster and therefore lightened machines and also did other mods to make them look "cool". Therefore I think that is a part of history that we should also attempt to preserve. If it's already been played with then I don't see the harm........ Some of these guys did wonderful jobs with their interpretations of what they saw as appealing to the eye. Maybe attempt to have a look at some early bobbers. I'm sure that you may be able to find the appeal too. I gotta say that the rusty VL makes my heart pitter-patter!

                      Roland,

To each his own. Would you be elated to hear me tell you that the paint color of your machine was a disgrace. Lighten up man !

No kidding, lighten up. Back in the day, you could get a Harley roller for less then what it takes to fill-up your SUV tank today with gas. It hasn't been until the last 15 or so years that the interests have focused on "correct" Harley's, Indian's....or any antique bike for that matter. There's still a lot of Rat bikes, Bobbers and Choppers out there that will never see the grounds of an AMCA show. To each his own......I'll look at a Rat bike then turn around and look at a 100 pointer with the same enthusiasm. They're all fun. That's what makes the world go round.........

                              old rust's bobber

i think if you all look at old-rust's posted picture ,the tombstones are of the owners of bikes that are squirreled away...never ridden...afraid there investment might be seen an enjoyed antique owners that died from boredom ! this ol knuckle of old-rust is out on the backroads of jersey being ridden ,making ol man come up an tell there stories of way back when they had such + such a bike . as far as rolands comment about ruinning a perfectly good antique motorsickle , this bike was actually created from the depths of an ol timers memory from bits an pieces ,so this bike was actually saved not ruinned . like'em or not therse bobbers ain't goin away unlike the purists dying a slow death of no fun !!!!
