    Thanks

Thanks Fat-Dog $10.00 = 5 tickets I am going to give out my cell number cause if you call me you are paying for the call with my service all incoming calls are free no matter what service you have I can answer after 5 pm eastern time. Yes Paps you are right ....In my book the only thing that is not gambling is a donation with out a ticket and I will oblige anyone who wants to make a donation. I want this raffle to be a success I called it a 50/50 everyone knows what a 50/50 is ... those who have already paid their money or pledged have the right to both vote and voice their opinion in Eustis If the majority of the ticket holders say lets draw will will spin the box and draw a ticket if they say no....You started the ball rolling lets us continue to grow this, find a bike and give the winner choice a 100 pointer or the money I personally don't care I fully in tend to give my tickets away That way if my ticket is drawn some other lucky person will win... I am going to be up most of the night trying to reach as many presidents of as many chapters as I can. Starting with my own. The Catawba Valley and it's 20 members. I will accept any help, any donations and I will listen to those who bought and paid for tickets. Just a suggestion.... if we keep it a cash drawing it may draw more people maybe some like myself already have a project and could really use a windfall.

Maybe I am missing something on this 50/50 thing. Is it authorized by the administration as an AMCA project to go ahead with it? If it is I am all for it and you can count me in for $10 too. If it's not we will end up with some real legal problems. A 50/50 would drum up some cash fast but maybe to fast. The whole concept with the idea of a raffle is to draw outsiders in, not insiders in. The insiders will be coming anyway. Word of mouth will get many but not enough. I think it could be accomplished by the time Davenport comes around. A year would be better. To soon won't pull in enough funding and it certainly won't allow for good organizing. Odds of winning would be better with a thrown together early raffle but only because of the lower turnout. I think the goal of the raffle is a huge turnout. Isn't it? Paps

          paps

In my post I mentioned it is easier to get forgiveness than to get permission... this is a fifty/fifty . I am a member in good standing, member #12340 trying to prove a simple point that is not as complicated as some have made it.... if the Amca does not want 50 rercent of a raffle raised to benefit it and it's members.. maybe It should be kept at a Chapter level as of right now 8:00pm eastern day light time 4 people have pledged with a total of $30.00 that's $15.00 to be donated and $15.00 to a winner. I will gladly return anyones money that does not want to participate. Now as I said before.. anyone with a ticket has a vote. No ticket ...No vote.!!! This raffle will be a succsess !!!! Now Paps you got this ball rolling shall I put you down for one = $2.00 or will it be more?

            50 / 50 raffle

            50 / 50 raffle

Pledges have been made and checks are in the mail ......How much can we give away in cash without having the winner fill out forms for Uncle Sam.. And is their a limit to how much can be donated with out any forms.??.. right now our pledges are at $80.00 .....This question needs to be answered correctly no guesses or I thinks......plz Uncle Sam does not except excuses. I spoke with some one who was pretty sure it couldn't be over $600.00 in cash as winnings without paper (tax 1099) it is considered as income....I don't see it as a problem just a legal issue that has to be documented properly. I am sure no one wants a 1099 or to see his chairitable winnings Butchered by Uncle Sam. Paul maybe we have a legal person who is up on this. Please forward this if it is possible.

jb.........I already pledged a $10 bill but you can add another $2 to it and make it 6 tickets. Watch for it in the mail [postal money order] made out to you/ 50/50. Will this work? I'll drop in a self addressed stamped envelope too. As far as Uncle Sam goes.....I haven't the slightest clue. A 1099 is fine with me as a possible winner. Here is an idea!!!!!! I know!!!!! NOT AGAIN!!! We buy the vintage antique bike and appraise it with the "legal" Kelly Blue Book ! Since the bike won't be in it anymore it will only have scrape weight value. This calculates to less taxes !! Smaller or no 1099! LOL!! Paps

                  thank-you

I'm sure my credit union will not have any problems, I have posted another message... and made a call to legal.. to find out want the best way to avoid putting any winner in hot water. Also I have sent out e-mails to 27 chapters so far and made about 10 phone calls we are close to a hundred bucks in pledges. In just a few short hours..With the majority so far coming from our little small chapter. Any help with making calls or e-mails or pledges will be greatly appreciated. After all I am doing this for our club and I don't expect anything in return I am doing this to prove it can be done without major expense.

                    possible bike raffle

Pete Gagan brought this up at a board meeting and did not get much of a response.
I work with a local car club that has a raffle and you MUST get a raffle lincense (probably in each state, county and city) where the prize is to be awarded. this is something that has to be checked very carefully before anything else can happen.
all in all not a bad idea, and that is exactly how things happen in this club of ours. members come up with ideas and some are actually very good.

                          please read all post

I have put a call in to legal..... this is, in my opinion one way to collect money with a incentive to the donor currently I have $92.00 in pledges we may have to stop at 1,200 dollars in order not to go over the $600.00 give away. or We can have a first second and third prize. If money gets that high. In any case those who buy tickets can get a refund from me at any time right up til March 1st this will give me time to put together a total report.

                            raffle

                            JB
the money can be split 50% donated to club
                            25% first place
                            15% second place
                            and 10% third place
BUT I know here in NJ you must have a seperate account for ALL the money AND you need a permit from the town where the prize is drawn. let me know how you make out with this

                              thanks kevin

I do not plan to stand at a booth or walking from booth to booth selling tickets. I will have everything ready and total'd up before we hit the road. If some one wants to sell tickets at Eustits then they should speak up. As I mentioned everyone who sends me a check or money order and a 37 cent stamp will make it easy for me to get them a receipt of what they paid and ticket stubs, I don't mind giving up some personal time in the evenings at home making phone calls and sending e-mails and writing reicepts But at Eustis I plan to enjoy myself....I am open to any suggestions..by those who have pledged to buy tickets in support of our National Club.

                                Maybe Louie was right

I didn't recieve even one pledge today. Three folks from this web site are interested in making a contribution and that's it? 4 counting me, another 5 from my chapter that I personlly called... I don't believe this.... well I guess I want have to worry about giving away to much money! right now our pledges stand at $112.00 if all those are collected 1/2 is $56.00...I am still sending out e-mails and their is still time. 35 days til Eustis,Fla.
