Thanks Ross; I found the one on page 4. I thought there was something about the new Eustis meet for 2012 just recently posted.

        It's Still here
        http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/bbo...Should-it-move

I closed it and deleted a few posts. The discussion seems to have run it's course and was begining to become a venue for promoting a conflicting non AMCA event.

Whats wrong with that? If the members aren't happy with what is going on why should they be able to discuss other options? Are we not allowed to talk about "Other" meets? Your move smacks of Big Brother.

The Eustis thread was stopped for the reasons explained by WebKahuna, and as a longtime AMCA member and Vendor I agree that the 7 postings removed, that had 1,077 views in the last two weeks, were removed as explained, but all of this discussion evolved from the root thread (9,154 views and 97 posts) and the disagreement within the local chapter, of which I am a member, about the move.
With respect for all AMCA Club members opinions.

Sorry we disagree, I think you may be a little quick on the draw with the "Big Brother" stuff though. I'll try to give an explanation so we understand each other. The thread is titled Eustis 2012- Should it move. It started on 7/17/11 and had some pretty spirited discussion though to the middle of August. I think you even chimed in a time or two with a couple of one liners. It picked up a little more in the beginning of September. By this time the thread had pretty much run it's course Then mid September we get a post about wanting to hear from vendors interested in an outlaw meet. Then after about a month of no replies The same poster bumped the thread with another similar post. After that the thread ceased being a discussion on the merits of a chapters decision of one venue or another. It became an advertisement or promotion for an event that is in direct competition with an event sponsored by the people who supply this forum, Namely You, Me and the people at Sunshine Chapter, amongst others. Whether you agree with their decision or not, In here we're part of the same group. So you can argue, disagree, discuss and complain, but you shouldn't use this forum as a place to actively collect and promote information to hurt an AMCA sponsored event. With that in mind I'm deleting your last post here too
              Thanks
              Gary

I am very vocal supporter of the AMCA. I love our club and I have defended it against the many attacks it has endured from judging through "transparency" issues. I accept that our club is a volunteer organization that is run by humans who have tried their best to make it a good club. This isn't to say I'm some kind of Pollyana that thinks everything is okey-dokey. I'm enough of a realist to know that any club will be a perpetual work in progress.

I can understand the club not wanting to promote a competing event on the forum, and maybe I can understand censoring the thread that was doing that. The problem I have is how we got here to begin with. Florida and The Sunshine Chapter will have hosted an AMCA national meet at 12 different locations (with this new meet). That has to be a record that no other chapter will ever want to come close to. Eustis was the most stable, and well liked facillity that Florida has ever offered to the membership and now it off the roster. I gather it was 3 or 4 voting administrators in the Sunshine Chapter that made this change and they did it with stealth, deceit, and arrogance. My disappointment is with the AMCA national for rubber stamping this move.

Well, it's a done deal and we have to live with it but this is just another thoughtless move that the national is going to get criticized for.

                        Hi Eric & all,
In regards to your dissatisfaction with "AMCA National for rubber stamping this move", please understand that the chapter vied for the date of their meet well in advance via the National Meet Organizer, Ricky Najera. Ricky is concerned with dates, and conflicting events. Venues are not at all on the BODs agenda. Who are we (the BOD) to dictate WHERE an event may happen?
All we can do at the National Level is try and Schedule these events so they don't conflict. I don't believe that locations are even part of the process of submitting for an event. This Florida chapter has a long history of producing a great function. I remember voting on the calender year, with this event at it's usual time slot. That is pretty much all we knew, or needed to know really. Imagine the up-roar if the National tried to get it's hand into where, or where NOT local chapters can have events!
Out here on the Best, er West Coast, I'm just hoping it's not too humid, and that the aligators aren't hungry when we get there.
Fingers crossed that it all works out, RF.

quote "Who are we (the BOD) to dictate WHERE an event may happen? " end quote .... H-mmmm,
I guess I'd presumed otherwise, RF. Just as I'd presumed that the nat'l board is charged with maintaining the grand view of things, I'd presumed the nat'l would consider the grand view in endorsing chapter/national functions, like where the Eustis meet is held. As other chapter members would consider themselves a little more than just guests, I argue that a chapter/national meet is under a little more than just a chapter's autonomy.

Maybe my philosophy/grand view holds that this club is OUR CLUB first, and a recruiting tool, uhhhh, a little further down the line. .. Oh!, and we're non-profit.

just had to p in yer ear a bit, since yer hangin out
