  • Cool medal Barry! I love the old medals and badges etc. Always looking to add to my collection if anyone is interested in selling or trading. Would be interested in seeing any others you may have. Thanks. Gary

      • I believe this is a 1912. Note the large tank logo.

        • I'd go with 1912 as well Chris. That larger lettering has been brought up before. Could it have been an advertising tactic? Cool pic by the way, it's one I hadn't seen.

          • Do any of your photos have the number on them?

            • I agree, the larger tank logos are a very carefully hand-done studio retouches, just to make the name of the maker the focal point of the pictures. An adverising "convention" of the time, early 20th Century. Another was having everyone facing away from the camera, so as not to distract from the product being featured.

Not many of my photos are originals so who knows who cropped what out...

Sarge, that's an interesting thought about the faces pointed away from the camera.

Was the sidecar made by Harley Davidson, or was it made to their specifications?

                          • I look forward to seeing that. Early sidecar history is very murky and documentation is scarce to say the least.

                            • Great picture Cory....the trombone player has a light mounted on his hat. Is that to read his music at night or to help see where they are going ?
