IMG_0688.JPG Billy Huber tidbits:Retired doctor from Des Moines that does photography, has done pics of me.He stops to see me each year & we talk history of Iowa & I help him with his research.I got some reprint pics of Des Moines motorcycle racing from him.He said they probably came from one of his clients many years ago. This pic is to Jorge from Billy Huber. At Anamosa when I talked to Tuman,Hill, Klamfoth,Tuman told me the story of Billy next to him at 1953 Dodge City,Tuman in lead Billy 3rd,they went into a corner & Billy went straight into & over the wall, died from injuries later. He had passed out from the heat at 100+ miles per hour!Bodt temp was 108 & could not be dropped.Tuman started shaking & crying when telling me the story & Hill hugged Tuman & talked to him until he stopped shaking. Then Tuman told me the rest.Tuman would lose 20 lbs in that race,& would be sick for weeks. He never went back to Dodge City to race & retired soon afterwards.
Huber raced 1941 WR 6777,40 WLDR3631,52 KR3067 & others. There are pics of him racing at Des Moines & riding with the checkered flag.My brother's 1942 Little Base Indian racer was owned by Jorge from Des Moines!
Here are 2 poster stamps That I have from Milwaukee 1915-1916,1916 Badger fest! IMG_0690.JPG

Steve, it's a good thing your Dad had that powerful JD to navigate those steep Cincinnati streets. Ravine Street is one of the steepest. I was born about four blocks from the north end of Ravine Street at the corner of Clifton Avenue and Straight Street. Really enjoying the pictures and descriptions; keep 'em coming.

I cannot for the life of me identify the house on google maps. it has a triangular window near the peak. When we visited the area in 1977, i remember Dad giving directions and we drove right up to the house he roomed in like he'd been there yesterday. I remember the house appearing like it was neglected and the stairs leading up to the front door need to be replaced. Also we visited McMicken Hall where the lions were at the main entrance. I remember Dad talking about Fairview Park being near where he lived, but that was 46 years ago that i was there, so time has done what time does; perhaps that house no longer exists... But in the pictures i have posted of Dad, the houses that are next to the house he roomed in don't appear like any of the ones i see on google maps... so... anyway.
This next series of pics will be of Dad's Brown Bobby Greaseless Donut sidecar delivery van. i remember Dad telling me he took the tub off and built the box that carried the donuts, so here goes. Also a pic of Brown Bobby advertising from that era.

Fast forward exactly 50 years and you can see Dad in 1977 sitting on the steps of the house he and his fellow classmates rented while they we attending U of C the year 1927. We were on our way out to the Indian 4 meet, so that picture would have been taken August,1977.
