Here is the last picture of Dad's visit home from the University of Cincinnati, August 1927. He is in front of the west entrance of the high school building in Hartington, Nebraska where he graduated from in 1925. I went to HHS 1966-70. I'm glad you fellows are enjoying the pictures; i know that i am lucky to have them. Tomorrow, i will begin posting his pics during his time in Cincinnati.

i know this one has been on here already, but i would like to give it a caption of, "Oh, the woes of simpler times..." i can't help but wonder if he got things reassembled, given his apparent location, how factory support was... i wonder what was going through his mind as he was holding that piston having his picture taken...

Here is Dad with his new bike, picture taken on Ravine Street where he and other classmates rented a house in Cincinnati during the time they attended the university. Dad was in the ROTC, which explains the uniform. He told me he liberated the street sign after a drunk driver ran over the post holding the sign up... Dad confessed that during his "off" hours, he took pleasure cruising Burnham Woods in the wee hours of night shining his spotlight into the steamed-up windows of cars; i believe that's called police impersonation these days. Having studied these pictures numerous times, Dad's '27 was outfitted in different pics with a variety of accessories as you can note when looking at these grainy old pictures. No spotlights in this picture, but what one can see is the spring tube fork stabilizer. After i've posted the remaining Ravine Street pictures, i will post the ones with Brown Bobby sidecar rig.

More pics of Dad in front of the house he and classmates rented during his time in Cincinnati. In the untrimmed picture of him astride his bike, smiling, note the house in the background, in particular the ladder leaning against the house. The house needed to be resided, so Dad made a deal with the landlord to use shingles as new siding in exchange for rent, which you can see the job appears to be finished. Fast forward exactly 50 years and you can see Dad in 1977 sitting on the steps of the house he and his fellow classmates rented while they we attending U of C the year 1927. We were on our way out to the Indian 4 meet, so that picture would have been taken August,1977.
