Yes Steve, here is the article. That 'Copper Du Lux & Vermilion Red was one of my all time favorite paint combinations.

Picture 4344 shows Ray Tursky on a 34VLD when he won the Jack Pine trophy, and #4346 shows him on a 35VLD when he placed third the following year. I saw the '34 at Oley a few years ago. Apparently Tursky sold it around 1938 and the new owner had kept it since then. It was in the late season Copper Du Lux paint scheme. Somewhere I've seen a magazine article on that bike.

I hope this photo has not been posted and by now it would be a life task to go through all these to find duplicates. So a belated cheer for Burt Munro whose birth anniversary was March 25.
Here is a photo of Burt pointing out that this is not The Fastest Indian In The World. So what bike is Burt sharing here?

I believe the above picture Mike Love posted is a transplanted Vincent head on Burt's Velocette. It was #104 'Offering To the God of Speed'. Speaking of the Velocette nobody really talks about, the Indian stole a lot of it's thunder, but all all, it was one bad hombre' also!
    Burt was truly the
'MAD Scientist' of the early motorcycle world, wasn't he!
    *Below picture~Burt on the right.

I drag raced for years, built all of my own machines, and know this feeling, it's in our blood, it's who we are. Incredible spirit.
As we say about motorcycling, It's the greatest sport !

Munro was 68 years old when he set the record, that still stands today !!!!
    Record: Munro's record was 184.087 mph (296.259 km/h).

Love this picture of Burt Munro. shows that spirit that we all have building and riding our machines.
What is he pointing to? Looks like the case broke? High speed engine disassembly? There is a story here.....
    Thanks for posting.
