#2442 looks like a 1931/2 VL in the 1933 paint scheme. Headlamp is the 1931/2 flat lens Motolamp, that looks like the 32E generator, but I can't see the 1932 clutch pedal helper spring. #2443 shows two 1935 VLs. Only year with the tank panel at the front, only year strap horn brackets, first year rear toolbox, short handlebar grips, Cycleray headlamp and domed taillight lens. #2444 is an early 1930 VL with the two piece valve covers, and a VC commercial model with those small cylinder inlets. Maybe it was titled in '29 and is the $65 bike on the chalk board.

Maybe the $65 sign is for another bike completely, possibly inside the business the sign is in front of. The bike pictured is an early 30's VL {twin headlights etc.}and has a license plate {registered} not a 29 that the sign advertises. the 1930 model was the first VL offered by HD so the sign would not apply to the pictured bike, which appears by the look of it, to be very used. JMHO.....Smitty

Yes the Harley twin headlamps were used 1929 and 1930. 1930 was the most produced year for the VL, so the one most often thrashed by kids later or broken up to keep other bikes running. The commercial models has the small cylinder inlets, a one inch carburetor and low lift cams to strangle performance. A lot of them must have been used on package trucks for local deliveries before the Servi-Car came out in 1932, and the survival rate of VC models is low.
