it matters to if it's a 45 or 37 inch motor,

      I know nothing about 101s

Just a thought: Take a look at Harrys 101 build under Members Bike Builds "101 Scout... going to take a while"

      Check out: www.101scout.org

(Don't know why print went bold Apparently I know nothing about word processing)

        Cscott,

All 101 transmission cases are the same, 37 or 45.
        Here are some overall dimensions:

The flange size is bigger then earlier Scouts because the clutch is bigger diameter.

In the above photo you notice the 101 case has two notches on the OD of the flange, at about 1:00 o’clock the notch is for clearance for the generator drive, while at 5:00 o’clock there is a subtle notch, clearance for the brake cross over shaft.

Dear Chris, here's a stripped gearbox case from a 1928 101, fresh out of the dishwasher today.

An easy tell from the similar chief is 6 flange holes instead of 7 for a chief trans.
