  • Scout frame repair

I have a ‘39 Scout subframe that needs a bit of welding done (loose chain rubbed on lower tube). It’s not very deep but I’d like to have it welded.
I need to tell the welder what kind of steel the frame is. Anyone know?

      Please warn your welder, Nonmilagno,...

The frame members are brazed together.

(Welding near a joint risks 'admixture'. And if its like the Chiefs I've repaired, everything but the tubing is cast iron.)

      Good luck!

Once again, I only worked on a couple of Chiefs, Jerry,

But on headstock cracks, center-stand lugs, and the like, I used piston rings for filler rod.
