Actually Hendee and Hedstrom first met in Springfield around 1895-7 when Hedstrom was racing at the Springfield Colliseum. Mr. Hendee was one recognized as being a official of the L.A.W. Hendee heard of the original Hedstrom pacer and was actually able to see it in action in Hartford, Connecticut during the summer of 1900. Another thing Hedstrom didn't get his motors from Skinner as Harry Sucher claimed in The Iron Redskin
