Looking for some help on removing/installing girder fork springs without damaging surface finish. My 46 repair manual says to remove upper and lower seat nuts and pry spring out of lower seat first then pull out the upper section. Install in reverse order. Well that sounds easy right? There has to be some way to compress the spring and install without damaging the paint. Any help will be appreciated.
