Checking to see if anybody produces an LED headlight bulb for original Motolamp housings?

I bought one made by Georg Lutzenberger (schorsch.lutzenberger@t-online.de) in Germany. Paul Benassi in Minnesota was the distributer for them when I got it. It makes a huge difference in the amperage draw in my 1940 Indian 4 and gives a much brighter light.

        Howdy sir,

Yes, assume you’re looking for 6 volt? Have been using LED’s since they first became available and this new generation is phenomenal. No fans in this application, not bulky and tolerant of voltage spikes which can occur on machines still using 3 brush generators and cutouts. I have 7 of the version below in use. The 3 eared bayonet base can be a bit fiddly to install.

          Howdy chaps,

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention one of our own member’s fine products, also a Four owner.

              Howdy sir,

They are indeed brilliant obviating the need to convert to 12 volts, best part is their efficiency. I conjoined the hi/low beam contacts on two more, trimmed/slightly rounded the heat sink, pressed the mounting plate outward toward the LED array to restore focus and now use them in my spotlights as DRL’s. With the main headlight on low and both of these powered, they are only pulling 3.5 amps, about the same draw as a dismal sealed beam of that era.

              Cheerio,
              Peter

I use this type with good results. One nice thing about it is that it worked on my 6 volt system and when I converted to 12V it still works great.
