Diesel is cheapest, John!

And most convenient as well.

I understand why you would want to swab out any crap you can, Deebs!

But what point would it be to get it dry?

So there is no chance of watering down the lubrication (no matter how slight). I like using diesel like you suggested because of the low flash point.

Obviously there are more safety concerns with gasoline than diesel.

Unless you are a smoker, I wouldn't even worry much about a little gas.

Dad said they thinned motor oil with kerosene for Nebraska winters, and that's close enough to #2 diesel.

I do like riding in the winter Tom. But I would not thin my oil in such a way. I guess that's all they had back then when top ends lasted 10,000 miles.

The coldest I rode, Deebs,...

Was a few miles at ten below to get to work.

Put the oil in a coffee can on the stove pilot light overnight (remember those?), poured it direct into the Honda 450, and the only problem was visibility with a face shield.

Miss my Honda most of all...

Honda 450. Cool bike. Was it a Black Bomber like this? Or a little newer like this red 70?
