I picked up what I believe to be a NOS case half, or maybe it’s slightly used. In any event, are these year specific?

Is a boss stamped for the first time really altered?obviously not same as factory numbered,but not a file off and restamp either.

PS: The Illinois State Police Inspector explained it to me that it would be theft against Indian® to produce a unique machine in its name,.. and fraud, of course, to alter and present to due process a booger.
