  • Tire pressures

I have a '48 Chief with 16" wheels and Coker whitewalls. The recommended pressure in the Owner's manual is 16 PSI front and 18 rear, which seems low to me. Obviously, tires are much different now than they were then. I called Coker and they told me the max pressure for these tires is 32 and the tubes are likely rated about the same. His recommendation was to increase pressure to 22-25, but he seemed unsure.

What pressures tire pressures do you run on your bike, especially with similar tires?

    Thanks.

I called Coker about tp on some new Super Eagle tires, and was told 30-32 psi. My new tires were super squirrely for about 300 miles, be careful.

I normally run 20-22 with Avon MK-II and same when I had Continentals. I've bumped it up a bit to 25 on occasion when I know I'll be riding 2-up with full saddle bags on pretty smooth roads. Lower pressure will improve the ride if you get on some bumpy roads.

I pumped em up to 22 and the bike rode noticeably better.
