I am wondering what modifications are there on a bonneville. I have the Bonn carb and it sure kicks hard. Was there a compression difference?

Or just hard to start?
The compression difference is pretty subjective to one's foot.

I believe the differences are cams and lifters, carb, ported cylinders, pop up pistons with thin rings, relieved heads, magneto.
I think the comp.ratio is probably higher but I have no reference off hand and Im not sure if a 74 bonn and 80 head are the same.

Both std. Chief rocker ratios: .81:1
Both Bonneville rockers: .86:1
Yes, the lobe is taller than the lift
Bonneville Linkerts are the same 1-1/4" (nominal) throttle bore, but the venturi is 1-1/8" vs. 1-1/16" for std.
There is also a different main nozzle called out.
