1940 chief blowing blue smoke

I have a 1940 chief ,that was rebuilt 2 years ago ,just took it for a ride and it started blowing out blue smoke ,motor was completely gone thru 2 years ago ,any ideas what I should check first thanks

check how much oil darins from the crankcase or if you have a level plug above the drain see much comes out there to verify your not wet sumping.
Check compression,go from there.

yep, I would check for wet sumping first off. Can you see oil returning to your tank with the cap off ? don't make a mess :-) Good luck
