Will CDE chief motor fit in 1946 frame?

I have indian chief cases stamped CDE without serial numbers--- i am assuming its a 1945 chief motor,,,will it fit in 1946 chief frame? thks

any chief motor from 1934-1953 is interchangeable with frames from the same year range.

You can run into problems with the chain adjustment screw on the primary. Often times, motorcycles can become a mélange of parts from many different years. Just look at the adjustment screw angle, and your frame. It will be obvious.

Good point.The inner primary cover and the trans mainshaft and sprocket driver are specific to either rigid or plunger frame,but basic engine mounting in frame is the same.
