  • 1946 Chief Crank Case Plug removal

I've almost completed my restoration and trying to set initial timing....I am having a hard time getting the plug out of the side of the crankcase to set the initial timing. The last time it was removed was over 40 years ago and unfortunately I didn't think to take it out when I had everything apart!
Any suggestion on how to break it loose?
    I appreciate any advice.

I use a large flat-head screwdriver inserted at a 90 degree angle, so I can use it like a wrench. I've also used a dull chisel on the perimeter of the slot to jar it loose
