Transmission Case Oil Level Plug

I know a lot of you have drilled and tapped a fluid level pug in your transmission cases. You can drain your transmission and then fill to the level on the plug. My question is; where does that hole go that you tap? Is it that little boss on the side of the transmission case? I don't want to screw this up so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The trans level plug is for later powerplants or those modified to split the trans and primary oils.Otherwise why bother,just drain and change the primary/trans, at the same time using level hole in outer primary.The level hole would go in the boss you mentioned.

That's what I'm thinking and thanks by the way for your response. My primary is sealed off from the transmission so while I have it apart I will drill and tap a hole so I can make my tranny oil changes easier. I hope.
