  • 68 Electra Glide throttle cable routing

My brother would like some pics or a good description of the original throttle cable routing for his 68. He put an S&S Super on it and I made the adaptor to use the stock air filter. He will be using a pull type spiral.

    I have no pictures.
The control coil exits the handlebar end into the handlebar clamp then turns down and through the top triple clamp oval shaped passageway. Turning towards the front on the motorcycle then into a 180 degree radius and passing rearward between the frame down tubes just below the neck. All the way down and resting on the top side of the bottom clamp, then rearward between the tanks. There’s a drilled and tapped bracket on the bottom side of the frame reinforcing tube under the tanks that is for anchoring the coil. You’ll need a coli clip there. You’ll have to figure out how you’re going to connect the control wire to the Shorty carb. Not sure how that setup will work with the carb return spring. I’ve run a modified Super B with the return spring removed and a push type throttle but not a Type E or G with a pull type throttle. Take pictures and post them up. Interested in how this will work. Good Luck

Thanks sswaney, I will pass the information on to him. He is going to use a pull spiral and a lift and twist enricher. The adapter is a piece of 3/8" thick aluminum. You can see how much the hole is moved over and down on the back plate to fit to the carb. The fourth hole is the bowl vent.
