I think this is your present fender light style.

Found pics of it on the 78 FLHS. But. The FLHS has 2-1. Mine is 2-2. O rhyme or reason to this bike. Still looking at rocker boxes.

The fender light has always been an over the counter accessory for the AMF era bikes. They look like this,

i bought a new king of the highway in 1979. it came with that 'Bear Trap' seat and i hated it. 1979, as far as i know, was the only year for the air gap ignition.
they did not come with lighted fender trim. they said either 80 or 1200. thats the fender tip i thought was being referred to. i never saw a fender mounted factory light.

              Howdy chaps,

First time perusing the Shovel forum looking for possible answers to overly high clutch lever effort on Barnett blues adjusted at 1 1/32 at the plate, half inch on the lever to trans top along with offset/cocked pressure plate release and stumbled across this thread. Had to chuckle at Robby’s observation on that fender light. Bought this sad sack turd brown low mile stock machine in the mid 80’s, and as an overly enthusiastic young whippersnapper commenced to make it look sorta like the Pans I could not then afford, to include that very light. Just now dragging it out of a 10 year nap in the back of the shop for a stem to stern freshening to be pressed into bar hopping and Road Run duty. It’ll remain delightfully festooned with cheap period Custom Chrome, Ted accessories and wrong year doo dads. Glad I didn’t do this to some of my more collectible machines back in the day to remind me now.

              Cheerio,
              Peter

That's awesome! I too am rebuilding a bike with every possible 90's aftermarket doo-dad installed by the original owner. I think it's just as important to preserve that look as it is to restore to 100 points.
