  • 1982 flhf

On one of the Shovelhead Facebook groups recently a discussion was started about a very limited production 1982 FLHF model (300 units). I was really interested in this having never heard of such a model and owning multiple Shovelheads over 45 years. The 41-84 parts manual does show a list of parts for these in the back where the FLHS, Heritage, etc. models are. My 41-83 manual that I’ve had for a long time doesn’t show anything about an FLHF. Apparently they were a partially stripped down model available only in black. Does anyone have a picture of one of these or know anything about them?

Hello Rodger, there has been some discussion on this Facebook site. If for some strange Facebook reason the site doesn't show~up, you can access it by searching...'1981 Harley - Davidson Heritage Edition' on Facebook. The FLHF discussion is a few clicks down & it begins with...'Sarg Kramer'.

I found that my copy of the 1941-84 FL models parts catalog has pages 283 and 284 dedicated to parts for 1982 FLHF model. It is the very last parts list before the numerical index.
I also had never heard of the FLHF, it seems to be a newer version of the very basic FLHS from 1977, another very low production stripped down FLH model.

The old designation for any footshift FLH was FLHF so it was likely lost on a lot of old dealers as to any special connotation. I was working a dealership when the FLHS came out. Most wore the special colors offered that year as well, mostly primary colors such as Blue,Red, Yellow, Green.....

I bought a 1981 FLHS brand new from Charlotte, NC HD. Included was a leather jacket and two HD shirts. It did not have any saddle bags. I remember seeing a Heritage on the floor at the time. Funny thing when I was there there were several professional wrestlers at the shop. Magnum, Boogie Woogie, the Kalof Brothers and Hulk.
