    Thanks for the response 59xlh,
I was reading about selling on e bay last night 10% for Ebay plus state tax and a federal 1099. Still learning. I don't even have an active Facebook account. Social media isn't my thing. Forums as pushing the limit for me.

That suggests (to me anyway) that a nice upgrade for this site would be to cross post the For Sale/Want Ads: here; the paper magazine AND the AMCA website. Just a thought

For what it's worth, I just completed a sale for my asking price on a BMW motorcycle by using our local listserv. I had it on Craigslist, a couple tire kickers with no money, and a couple scammers was all I got in 10 days. My wife suggested I put it on our listserv and I said "that would be a waste of time"...but I posted it once and three days later I have the cash and the bike is gone.

(in case you aren't familiar with a listserv, and maybe you don't have one in your area, but it's simply a community online platform where you can post things for sale, complain about the roads, announce an event, etc....it worked for me!)

Interesting I've never heard of 'listserv ' either. Like the idea of complaing about the roads

In my neighborhood it's called "Neighborhood". Go figure but it does work.

List on Ebay for world wide exposure, then pull it before auction ends.

For me buying is way easier than selling

Just sold two bikes on eBay after listing on this site with no real interest. Got a very fair price for both. One was a 74 FXE. EBay only transacts the deposit you request. In my case it was $500 which is below the $600 limit for a 1099, Second deposit wasn't an issue because the same buyer sent full amount to include the deposit via bank transfer.. Payment was a bank transfer with no problems whatsoever. After transfer was secure, I mailed titles to the new owner who set up transport to pick up his machines. We coordinated the date of pickup and off they went.
Was way easier than I ever expected. The buyer was great

I expect you will have lots of worldwide attention and will get great $$ on eBay. Good Luck with your sale

I believe eBay only sends 1099 forms on money that goes through them. A vehicle is generally paid outside of eBay other than maybe a deposit. I’m not sure if banks are issuing 1099s on electronic transfers as everything has changed for 2023. It would be hard for eBay to claim how much you were actually paid because hammer price isn’t always a actual selling price. You’ll find some try to renegotiate after the sale or back out completely. eBay is very economical with small up front fees but no percentages charged. Bring a Trailer is costlier.

would be easier if one of you guys would just buy it and save me the pain of advertising it.

Maybe you'd have a bit better luck selling it if it was listed in the "For Sale" section of this forum?? JMHO.....Smitty

The more places that it is offered can only increase the chances for a sale.
