  • Push rod tool

Is there an official tool for removing pushrods that are too long ? My 1971 FLH has hydraulic tappets ( S&S ) & colony push rods . Problem is that the intake push rods cannot be removed when the hydraulic units are pumped up . It is just a matter of about 1/16 of an inch or so . I have used a couple of small wrenches , that worked , but I really don't like this method . The reason this is happening is the valve seat is at it's limit , so the valve stem is sticking out farther thus putting the rocker arm cup down further . So I have to make the pushrod open the valve slightly to remove the pushrod . Any help would be appreciated . Thanks, Mike

I also have one for the XL models. They both look like Robbie's just a different size on the end. We made ours in the 70s.

It is a factory tool, part # is 96930-52 Push Rod removing tool. Used them a lot in the '70s with crappy hydraulics and oiling issues.
