Can some one tell me the correct way for the small timing cam to go into the advance weight mechanism? It will go in correct and also 180 degrees different. How do I know which is correct?

You can't know until you bring up the timing mark on the front cylinder's compression stroke.
Then it goes in (or the whole timer into the cases) with the small lobe pointing toward the cam follower.
On my '65s, anyway..

This '66 or so timer has none, and the sides of the cam are symmetrical.
