    Shop Recommendation

    Hi everyone, I'm a new member and of course need help. I purchased a couple basket cases over 25 years ago, a 52 PAN and 47 INDIAN. The PAN actually doesn't need a lot of work but my experience is only on SHOVELS and need recommendations for a good engine shop in SOCAL. I live in San Diego so anything between here and LA would work. I've contacted a place near LA called KNUCKLEWORKS (AKA CYCLEWORKS) and they claim they can help on anything PAN. A little about myself, I retired from the NAVY in 2006 after 30 years, I've owned a FLH since 1972 but my newest HD is a 1982, my primary ride nowadays is a 2005 GOLDWING. Both basket cases have been in my garage for the last 25 plus years and the PAN is in the best condition and have almost everything for it, the INDIAN needs a complete rebuild and is missing some stuff but nothing to difficult to acquire. After recently getting motivated and some internet research (way more information available nowadays then 25 years ago), this site and AMCA seemed like a good source for information and help so decided to join.

      Phil at Knuckleworks/Cycleworks is a stand up guy. His small shop is crammed to the gills with used OEM parts. He is the one reproducing the right on Knuck and Pan engine cases. He also does excellent case repair.

        Thanks Chris. Santee is definitely closer so I will visit Wayne's and see if I get good vibes. I don't think my motor needs a lot of work, mostly I need it put together properly with the addition of a few missing parts, I hope. I bought the PAN from a guy in Spring Valley (Gary Ball), I'm not sure how much of it is original but he restored bikes and was basically going to build this for himself until he contacted cancer. So I'm not necessarily trying to build a show bike but rather just something that looks good, mostly correct, and something I can occasionally ride.
        Again, thanks for your quick response, I'm sure I will have more questions in the future.

                Wow, PM sent. I've been to Vancouver Island, loved it. A lot of port visits while 30 years in the NAVY.

                  Hey Chris, happen to be off this week and stopped in on Wayne's, unfortunately his hours seem to be very limited (Friday-Sunday), I guess I should of called first. I will try stopping in on him another time.
