Putting my pan heads together and saw the new springs have a paint line down all coils on inner and outer springs. are they there for a reason and if so why? Lloyd

The reason depends on who made them but such marks are usually used to identify differences that cannot be readily seen by eye. in this case most likely pressure. Yellow stripe could be FLH springs and blue maybe standard or something like that. Factory FLH springs were identified by silver paint.Brian Howard AMCA#5866
