  • what type of Lower tank mounts?

I'm restoring a 64' duoglide and need help figuring out what type of lower tank mount I'm suppose to have. The piece I'm talking about welds between the down tubes and supports the bottom front portion of the tanks. Some time during this frames life the fatbob mounts were all cut off for a different style tank.

I have seen pans with only one strap of metal spanning the two downtubes and its bent to conform to their shape. I have also seen the new style which has two pieces spanning it creating a flat surface on the front of the downtubes. I can’t find anything in my Palmers so any help on what year they changed and what I'm suppose to have would be much appreciated. The part I found says 36'-84', but I know I've seen pans with the diffent style bracket.

    Thanks

You need the single strap kind of lower tank mount. This mount has 1 hole drilled through it to mount the -58 front safety guard. All the 2 hole mounts are for early rigid frames.

Looking at the V-twin catalog, part # 51-0541 is like the one in the link but has a single hole in the center and one on the left for the cable clamp, but thats not the one I need? Part # 51-0632 is the single strap style with the hole for a cable clamp but I cant find a reference for it past 57' like pictured in Palmers pg 39 top right corner.
The local bike shop has both part numbers in stock and the welder has a full tank of gas so I need to make a decision soon.
