Duffy has the right of it. Sorry, gentlemen to hijack the thread with picture of the old school. Not my best moment..
    James.
V Twin heads are Okay as far as I know. My 1960 heads are stamped 16700 and 16701-56 from HD. I always ran J12Y. No resistor was needed.

I will caution about non-resistor and resistor spark plugs.
When you are purchasing them, be sure to measure them yourself. I have found mistakes in the claim of resistor verse non resistor spark plugs by the manufacturers literature and Auto parts stores computer system information.

Please understand for professional reasons I do not want to name companies here...get out your DVOM and measure them.

      I hope this helps,

      Duke Kleman

        Howdy chaps,

If u want more options in spark plugs, ie, non resister, determine what your ignition requires and source the appropriate cap instead, NGK has a wide OHM range offering. That was what was required to get my R69S to run well on a BTH CD magneto-type conversion. As an aside, have run Ed’s ignition with copper core wiring, stock coil, non resister plugs on a 6V setup on a 41 Knuckle for 12 years now with zero issues. Make sure u fuse it and at no more than 15 amps, if not less.
        Cheerio,
        Peter
