I don't want to be that "guy", but there is a lot of aftermarket stuff on that '48'. It's a nice looking '48, and I think it has solid bones and could be taken to the next level with some good research and conscientious shopping at swap meets to find the genuine stuff. The 1948 BT is a true stepping stone for Harley-Davidson.

Eric, i totally agree. But it always amazes me, that the minor critique of a semi~original motorcycle seems to always override the fact that for the price involved & collectability, it is still an excellent within reason candidate for someone starting out to own an antique motorcycle, and not break the bank! When I purchased a 1938 ULH many m()()ns ago, the owner robbed a few key parts off the original '38 flatty to finish off his 1938 Knucklehead restoration. Which was probably why he bought the '38 ULH in the first place. But, it didn't discourage me, I just bought quality aftermarket replacements so I could hit the wind & enjoy, while i hunted down the original pieces. Either way, for what it's worth, this is a nice 1948 for the money.
*Ps. Funny, if this...Was a knucklehead, It would be covered over like a wet blanket.
