  • 1965 trans. base plate

I am putting together a 1965 FLH. I am seeing the part number for the base plate changed after 1964 and a new number for 1965 and newer. What changed in 1965 on the base plate THANKS if you can help

The 1965 trans plate no long needed the machined bottom slots as the case was now located by the inner primary cover - they are still there but not finished. It also no longer needed the adjuster screw bracket. They are still very easily confused with each other. The easy way to tell the difference is that a -65 plate has a big hole where the adjuster screw bracket used to mount.

      Idfly,

The changes were all due to the addition of electric start and a cast aluminum primary with a manual chain adjuster located within on model year 1965.

I have a couple base plates that are the older version sounds like they will work with no problem on the 65.
